Thousands of people without access to Spotify after the publication of the new Taylor Swift album

Thousands of users have reported being unable to access Spotify after pop superstar Taylor Swift released her new album, Midnights.

The number of those affected worldwide has added up to 7,844 service outages at one in the morning (New York time) according to Downdetector, a digital platform that records the status of different websites in real time.

The spark that lit the fuse was a Spotify tweet announcing the publication of the singer's new album. Consequently, the music platform has not been able to supply the number of users who wanted to consume the new content.

Taylor Swift is one of the few names in the industry that can generate such a stir. The young American has been captivating millions of fans around the world since 2004 with her lyrics and the different musical genres in which she has developed.

Her story-telling musical narrative, a sentimental life much exploited by the media and her personal war with the controversial singer Kanye West, have placed Taylor Swift in the spotlight of social networks. Consequently, the superstar has gained an incredible degree of popularity over the past few years.

On the other hand, it is not the first time that a digital content platform collapses in front of a saturation of active users at the same time. In August, HBO Max had the same problem with the release of the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon.
