This will be the new metro station next to the Santiago Bernabéu that triples the space: 12 new elevators and 24 escalators

The Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso of the Community of Madrid will put out to tender these days the works to remodel the metro station on line 10, next to the Santiago Bernabéu football stadium of Real Madrid. This is a large-scale work, since it has an initial budget of 68 million euros. Large and medium-sized construction companies are expected to bid for this work.

The tender document will be published in the coming days so that the award can be carried out at the end of the year and the works will start at the beginning of 2024 and finish in the first quarter of 2027.

Among the actions at this emblematic suburban stop, a notable increase in space stands out, which will triple from the current 4,843 square meters to 12,481, as well as the installation of 12 new elevators and

24 escalators. Architectural finishes will also be renewed, with technological advances that will improve service and user experience.

These works will be coordinated with the urbanization work that Real Madrid will undertake in the area around Plaza de Lima, the parking lot, the new Castellana bike lane and the rest of the pre-existing services. In addition to the renovation of the stadium itself, the comprehensive revitalization of Azca, the works on the axis of Avenida del General Perón and Concha Espina, and the remodeling and commissioning of the Congress Palace are being processed. Before the summer, there were neighborhood protests over so much work planned in the area.

This stop on the Madrid underground has maintained a close relationship with the Real Madrid stadium since its origins. So much so that, although it was inaugurated in 1982 under the name of Lima Station, in 1998 it was decided to rename it as Santiago Bernabéu. For this reason, among the planned actions that will be carried out in the coming months, a new design of the interior space is included, with football images, which will reflect the strong connection between the station and the Real Madrid field.
