This Saturday, December 31, the National Lottery draw will not be held and we will tell you why

Thousands of people try their luck and participate every Saturday in the National Lottery draw organized by the Spanish State Lottery and Betting Society. However, this Saturday, December 31, the last Saturday of the year, there will be no draw. Just like it was not held last Saturday, December 24.

This is due to the fact that during the Christmas period, Loterías y Apuestas del Estado organizes two extraordinary lottery draws: the Christmas lottery and the Children's lottery. Due to the increase in the number of draws, during these days the usual National Lottery on Saturday is suppressed. In this way, just as it was not held last Saturday, December 24, nor today, the 31st, there will be no draw on January 7th.

The next Saturday draw to be held by the State Lotteries and Bets will take place on January 14, 2023.

The Extraordinary Children's Draw, which will be held on January 6 in the State Lottery and Betting drawing room, in Madrid, will distribute 700 million euros in prizes, with a first of two million euros per series (200,000 euros to the tenth).

The second prize in this draw, the second most important in the National Lottery, is endowed with 750,000 euros (75,000 to the tenth) and the third with 250,000 euros (25,000 to the tenth).

The total issue is 1,000,000,000 euros (50 million tenths) and 70% of it is distributed in prizes.

Even with the hangover from the Christmas raffle, El Niño will be held on Three Kings Day at 12:00 noon using the multiple drum system.

This raffle has been known as El Niño since 1868, according to documentary references from Lotteries, which explains that the denomination is due to the proximity of the Epiphany of the Lord or the Adoration of the Child by the Magi from the East.

It was in 1941 that this raffle was set up with its own personality and name and, since then, it has become the second most important in the Selae.
