The Special Sommelier Award, a new recognition from the red guide that will continue in future editions, has gone to Josep Roca, wine waiter at Celler de Can Roca (Girona), as he calls himself. "It's not mine, it belongs to all the waiters," he explained when collecting it, dedicating it especially "to someone who will be an eternal star": Dani Redondo Cuevas, head chef at Celler de Can Roca, who died a few days ago in a car accident. traffic at 46 years old. The Special Room Service Award has also been given to Joan Carles Ibañez, who has been practicing his profession for more than 20 years and is in charge of directing the team of the three-star Lasarte in Barcelona on a daily basis.

One of the most emotional moments of the night came when chef Elena Arzak collected the special Chef Mentor Award on stage at the CCIB, which went to her father, chef Juan Mari Arzak, who was unable to attend tonight. to the gala. "Juan Mari has always fought for his work alongside his colleagues. He sends you all a hug, he asks you not to relax at work, to continue seeking excellence and not to lose hope," said the cook before The audience will burst into applause.

The award for Best Young Chef, which this year celebrated its third edition, went to Martina Puigvert Puigdevall, from the restaurant Les Cols (Olot, Girona), a recognition that the 29-year-old chef dedicated to her parents. "Thank you for teaching me such a pure love for this profession and for always leaving me freedom."

The autonomous community with the most awards of the night has been Andalusia, which has managed to add eight new stars. It is followed by Madrid, with six stars, and Catalunya, with 5. All the stars of the latter have gone to Barcelona, ​​the city that hosted the Michelin gala tonight. The Catalan capital has lost one of the two stars of the Angle restaurant, run by Jordi Cruz.
