Irrefutable proof that time passes for everyone: Daniel Radcliffe is going to be a father for the first time. A piece of news that probably makes many aware that the British actor is currently 33 years old and not 12, as many still remember him thanks to his portrayal of Harry Potter in the saga of the famous wizard boy.
A lot has happened since the end of the saga, and Radcliffe has made it clear with his subsequent project choices that he is leaving behind the character that made him famous. One of his most applauded performances was as Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings, in which he plays the famous American writer and where he also met Erin Darke, who would become his partner and future mother of his first son.
We have seen Daniel Radcliffe grow on the big screen, since he appeared as Harry Potter back in 1999 in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, much has been said about his professional career and the risky roles for which the young actor has opted to decant over the years. However, he has always been rather hermetic with his private life, going into little detail about his life in common with Erin Darke, with whom he has had a relationship for more than a decade.
The couple met while filming Murderous Love, but Darke already had some important work behind him, such as We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011). After meeting her partner, the actress has continued with her career, participating in all kinds of film and television projects, such as Siempre Alice (2014), the Beach Boys biopic Love
Although he has always remained quite discreet with everything related to his private life, the actor has spoken on occasion about how they met, his two characters being the protagonists of a passionate adventure. According to what he told People, they will have to explain to their offspring why their parents were kissing each other before they even met: "It will be a great story to tell our children one day. Meeting for the first time flirting."
A first scene that, according to the actor, has little "acting", at least on his part. As he stated in another interview with Playboy, everything that is seen in the images is completely genuine: "There is a moment that makes me laugh, and I am laughing, and that did not have to be done by my character," he reveals.
In another interview, the actor assured that he was immediately captivated by her as soon as he met her. "She is incredibly funny and intelligent. I knew she was in trouble," he insisted, also appreciating how much he has supported her career over all these years.
Darke is also a football enthusiast, more specifically the so-called 'fantasy football' or virtual football, where the king of sports is played over the Internet. Not only that, but when her team plays, the Michigan Lions -where the interpreter is from- it is mandatory to see. Radcliffe soon got used to this hobby, especially because of the passion with which his wife lives the Thanksgiving games themselves: "There is always football," he said in another interview with Seth Meyers on Late Night with Seth Meyers, "With the joy or misery that this entails".
The couple has known how to carry out their courtship in a discreet way, being fortunate to continue with their careers independently and to be able to be themselves from the doors to the inside of their house. In 2021, the actors shared a project again, Miracle Workers, and hope to repeat the experience.
With no wedding plans at the moment, the couple will welcome their first child next summer.
