The Barcelona guard court has ordered an autopsy to be carried out on former Angolan president Eduardo dos Santos, who died on Friday at the Teknon clinic. The law firms that represent his daughter Tchizé dos Santos have assured this Saturday that they see "a host of indications that the death of Dos Santos was favored" allegedly by his ex-wife, his personal doctor and people close to him to the Angolan government.

This was explained in a statement this Saturday by the law firms Carmen Varela Family Lawyers and Molins Criminal Defense, which represent Tchizé dos Santos, who on Monday reported an alleged attempted murder to the Mossos d'Esquadra and on Friday asked not to hand over his father's body until an autopsy was done for "fear" that he would be transferred to Angola.

They have affirmed that the current president of the country, Joao Lourenço, intends to give a funeral with honors to Dos Santos to "appear and simulate a rapprochement and unity with the former president of Angola" ahead of the elections scheduled for August.

However, they have explained that Dos Santos wanted to be buried in Spain and refused a state funeral in Angola, where the Dos Santos family "has been suffering strong political persecution led ideologically by the new Angolan government and President Lourenço."

For this reason, they have criticized that "the Angolan minister Téte António has traveled to Barcelona to ensure that the body of Dos Santos be transferred to Angola after his death" despite the wishes of the former president and his children.

They have said that Eduardo dos Santos and his ex-partner separated in 2017 after he left the presidency, when he moved to Barcelona, although "they had not had a relationship for years", and they have added that since then she has done public appearances as first lady of the now president, Lourenço.

Regarding the ex-wife, the legal representatives of Tchizé dos Santos have explained that the woman visited the ex-president in Barcelona in April, after five years.

They have reported that he settled in his residence and was "isolated" from his children and the muscular and respiratory physiotherapy treatment he received was restricted, canceling visits with his Spanish medical team.

They describe that "it was since he arrived in Barcelona and settled in Dos Santos' house that his health seriously worsened, so that his physical abilities were increasingly affected" until he ended up admitted to an intensive care unit at the clinic Teknon.

In their opinion, the link between Dos Santos's ex-partner and the current president of Angola, Lourenço, is "uncontroversial" and, according to them, in Angolan political circles the presence of women is interpreted as a way of limiting possible damage. politicians and media to Lourenço because of the death of Dos Santos during the electoral period.

They have pointed out that in March Dos Santos returned from a trip to Angola -he left in September after two years in Barcelona- "in a state of extreme health", weighing only 45 kilos, and they criticize that he was not accompanied by his personal doctor , Angolan.

One of the eight children of Dos Santos, Tchizé, filed a complaint this week with the Mossos d'Esquadra for an alleged attempted murder against the former president, and now the Barcelona Investigating Court 11 is in charge of the case.

This complaint points to Dos Santos's personal doctor, who according to this Saturday's statement "is a senior official in the Angolan army and is paid by the current Angolan government."

In parallel, Tchizé dos Santos has filed a lawsuit requesting protection measures and personal and economic support for his father, and is in charge of the Court of First Instance 59 of Barcelona.

The statement from the law firms adds that there have been repeated visits "outside the family and not authorized" by her to Dos Santos while he was admitted, in an unconscious state, to the Teknon clinic.

They have also criticized the fact that the Angolan government has reported on the state of health and the death of Dos Santos on its social networks despite the fact that the family "has expressly and publicly requested privacy and confidentiality on this issue."
