They warn of "dirty play" of a split from the PP to prevent Palacios from being mayor of Alzira

The government of the city of Alzira hangs on many keys, and none of them are easy to solve. So many that, finally, it may be that a Ciudadanos councilor has the key to being able to form the local executive in a city that was the second most important governed by Compromís, after Valencia, and in which this time the PP has been the most important party voted. However, the fragmentation of the 28M results forces us to look for a formula where internal quarrels are added to arithmetic that can make agreements difficult.

The PP, headed by José Luís Palacios, has managed to be the list with the most votes, with six councilors. The same ones that Compromís has achieved, which has lost three compared to 2019. The Valencian coalition has been harmed by the withdrawal of Diego Gómez, who has been mayor of the city for eight years. He has been replaced by Alfons Domínguez. From there, the PSPV appears to have achieved 4, Vox 2, NICU, which is a split from the PP loca 2 and Ciudadanos 1.

The PP needs the support of Vox, UCIN and the Cs councilor in order to have the necessary majority. The same is happening with Compromís and PSPV, who also want to convince the councilor of Inés Arrimadas' party. In the right-wing block it will not be easy to unite all the forces, since there are many resistances from NICU to agreeing with the PP. Quite the contrary. This independent formation, led by Enrique Montalvá, has dedicated itself to "dirty play" to try to blow up the Palacios campaign.

During the campaign, the Electoral Board forced UCIN to remove a video against the PP candidate with a song in which it was said that he is a "rat with two legs...". In addition to this maneuver, from the PP of Alzira they recognize the harassment to which UCIN has subjected the popular local group since the regional leadership led by Carlos Mazón decided to designate José Luís Palacios as a candidate.

UCIN, according to these sources, will try to reach an agreement with the PSPV and Compromís to prevent the PP from holding the mayoralty, a situation that could generate not a few tensions in the corporation. The PSPV and Compromís prefer to avoid the UCIN and gain the support of the Ciudadanos councilor to achieve a sufficient majority. If there is no agreement, it could be the case that the need for the most voted list to hold the mayoralty is resorted to, in this case José Luís Palacios would achieve his goal of being mayor by circumventing NICU.
