They investigate how the teacher who abused two minors in Arcos practiced with his background

It was not the first time that, taking advantage of his authority, he abused some of his underage students. In fact, the teacher, 42 years old and from Jaén, was arrested in 2022 for exercising this type of sexual violence against a girl in Santiago de la Espada (Jaén) and investigated for another similar case in the same year at a school in Prado del Rey (Cádiz). After that, the teacher has continued to practice in the educational field although in a different municipality. From Prado del Rey he was assigned to Arcos de la Frontera, also in the province of Cadiz, where on November 9 he was arrested again for the alleged commission of a crime of sexual abuse of two minors, aged 8 and 9, at which he subjected to friction and touching.

Now, the Ombudsman for Children and Adolescents of Andalusia, Jesús Maeztu, has announced that his organization will act ex officio to clarify how a teacher with such a background can continue to work at a school. Furthermore, as he has reported, he will investigate what protocols the Department of Educational Development activated when it became aware of the complaints that existed against this individual.

For her part, the head of this area of the Andalusian Government, Patricia del Pozo, has assured that the teacher "did not have anything on his criminal certificate" and "there was no background in education", since she explained that This document does not include whether there are open procedures that have not yet been resolved or complaints in which a ruling has not been issued.

"Justified". Maeztu has considered that the file he wants to open is reasonable to know what actions the department headed by del Pozo took after the abuse of minors reported in two educational centers, one in Jaén and the other in Cádiz, as well as he has expressed his intention to know how These cases were resolved.

In this way, the office of the Ombudsman for Children and Adolescents of Andalusia, "with due reservations and maximum caution and preserving the presumption of innocence of the teacher" considers it "advisable" to undertake this ex officio action to safeguard the rights of minors. affected and given the seriousness of the reported events.

The head of Educational Development, Patricia Del Pozo, has insisted that the teacher "did not have anything on his criminal certificate" and "there was no record in education" which does not mean that "there was some type of complaint that was not reached nothing firm or has not reached any sentence or does not have an end" and that, "therefore, does not appear as a full-fledged criminal record" because "there may be some open procedure, some complaint that has not yet had its final ruling and that is not recorded."

In the Arcos de la Frontera case, the teacher was arrested by the Civil Guard at the beginning of November for allegedly abusing two of his students. The judge handling the case decreed a series of precautionary measures against him while the case is being investigated, including a restraining order on the two victims and on the educational centers, as well as the suspension of employment and salary during the period of six months while the facts are investigated by the department.

The mayor of the Cadiz town, Miguel Rodríguez, praised the judge's decision to protect the affected minors, since he provided the support of the council to the girls and their families. "We are talking about highly sensitive issues and the parents know that they have me at their disposal, but I have not wanted to delve further into such a particular level, because I understand that, in this case, the privacy of the family and of these children is above any other type of issue. As mayor, of course, I am fully available, but I understand that prudence and normality have to begin to prevail for the good of these girls," declared the mayor.
