These are the "scandalous" LGTBI books that Vox has hidden from children in the Burriana library

The Councilor for Culture of Burriana, Jesús Albiol (Vox), has ordered the removal of LGTBI-themed books from the children's and youth area of the municipal library. In a statement he states that his order "complies with the law and the duty to protect minors from pornographic and scandalous content."

The mayor is the same one who recently ordered the withdrawal of subscriptions to books published in Catalan. In this statement he now explains the new decision because he is going to place them "in a special area for adults that he has created for this purpose in the Burriana public library."

Among the withdrawn books for children are titles such as "The Girl Who Had Two Dads", "Kike and the Barbies", "El llibre de les families" or "Girls and Boys", among others. There are several dozen children's books, whose content is aimed at explaining the reality and diversity of family models in Spain.

According to Vox sources, Albiol has "immediately" ordered the withdrawal of these copies in a decision that has been criticized by the municipal group of Compromís, who calls this councilor a "Censorship Councilor."

Albiol has explained that it makes this determination in compliance with article 20 of Law 4/2011, of March 23, on Libraries of the Valencian Community, since Burriana is a municipality of more than 25,000 inhabitants and the regulations contemplate that books with Contents on sexual diversity, gender or sexual development must remain in a specific section and not in spaces accessible to minors, as was done until now.

The mayor has assured, according to the Vox statement: "It is our duty to protect minors, the most vulnerable, and keep them away from books with content that we could classify as pornographic and that are not appropriate for their age."

According to Albiol, "during these years the left has tried to pervert minors with scandalous books with explicit sexual content that are in no way educational; texts that have been introduced both in public school libraries and in municipal libraries and are something that from Vox we are not going to consent; children are children and childhood must be protected."
