The world champions maintain their resignation from the national team

The world champions have stood down and will not return to the national team, considering the changes carried out in the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) insufficient. The 23 players who achieved glory in Spanish women's football on August 20, plus 12 international players who did not go to the World Cup, sent a letter to the Federation this Friday morning explaining the reasons for their resignation. This afternoon Montse Tomé will be presented as the new coach and her new list should not include the 35 players who sign the letter.

All the players held a meeting last night to make a decision on the matter. The 23 champions and 12 internationals who did not go to the World Cup attended there, among whom were also Mapi León, Patri Guijaro and Claudia Pina. Amanda Gutiérrez, from the FutPro union, also attended to advise the players and explain the legal consequences of not attending a possible call from Montse Tomé, which ranges from a financial fine to a disqualification of up to five years.

In the letter to the Federation, the players have explained that they want all the people who participated in the pressure on Jenni Hermoso after Luis Rubiales' kiss out. Mainly, they point to Andreu Camps, general secretary of the RFEF and Rubiales's right-hand man and who has devised the harshest statements against the players.

In addition, they also point fingers at those responsible for communications at the federal entity, because they sent false statements by Hermoso to the press. In short, they want all those who participated in the pressure on the Pachuca player to leave the Federation. It must be remembered that both Jorge Vilda, dismissed, and Luis Rubiales, resigned, have already left the Federation.
