The world champions celebrate their feat

More than 20,000 fans gathered tonight on the Puente del Rey esplanade, in Madrid Río, next to the Príncipe Pío station, where Spain's victory after the 2010 World Cup in South Africa was already celebrated, to honor the champions of the world in Sydney.

The players already celebrated in style on the plane that brought them from Australia and which left Sydney at six in the morning local time. After making a stopover in Doha (Qatar) the flight landed in Barajas at 10:20 p.m. There they took a bus that took them to another convertible, with which they toured the main streets of the capital, with the sidewalks full of people. They arrived at Madrid Rio at twelve at night.

There Olga Carmona was the most applauded by a crowd that had been there since nine o'clock at night shouting "world champions". The first to speak on stage was the Valencian and team captain, Ivana Andrés: "This cup is for you. Thank you for your support."

Then the coach, Jorge Vilda, spoke. "We said we were going to achieve it and all of Spain on its feet. Without your energy it would have been impossible. We have achieved it and we are celebrating it. I want to remember all the players who are not here and have helped us win the World Cup. Without those stars we would not be champions".

The next turn was for Olga Carmona: "Yesterday was the best day of my life and at times it became the worst. Here is the star you loved so much and the ones that are with us in heaven."

The next to speak was Jeni Hermoso: "I feel super proud that all of Spain is here, but I have to say long live Madrid and the people of Madrid. We are the best." The Camela duo then went up on stage and embraced the current player of the Mexican Pachuca before they all sang together.

Salma Paralluelo was the next to speak: "I want to thank all the support received. It is a dream come true to win in all categories and to be able to enjoy it with you."
