The voters of the PSC, more favorable to lowering taxes than those of Junts

Although JuntsxCatalunya is a priori positioned as the party inheritor of the space occupied by the extinct Convergència, as the right-wing independence party, one of the conclusions of the omnibus survey of the Center for Opinion Studies of the Generalitat published this Tuesday seems to deny this perception: Junts voters are less inclined to lower taxes than PSC voters and are practically equal to ERC voters in this area.

According to the survey, based on 1,200 home interviews with residents over 18 years of age in Catalonia between May 9 and 30, in general terms, Catalans are not very favorable to lowering taxes if that means reducing services or benefits. Only 33% would agree or strongly agree with it.

The voters of Vox, Ciutadans and the PP, in this order, would be the most inclined. However, 34% of socialist voters would also accept this tax cut, a figure that falls to 27% in the case of Junts voters, 25% in those of ERC and 23% in those of En Comú Podem . The most reluctant to a tax reduction are the voters of the CUP, since only one in ten accept it.

What does seem to be some agreement regarding taxation, apart from the parties to which they vote, is that the fight against tax fraud must be intensified (91% agree) and that activities that harm the environment must pay more (88% agree).

Another curious fact that the survey reflects is that the voters of the PSC and Cs are the ones who best value the work of the Mossos d'Esquadra with scores clearly above 7 in proximity to the citizenry and bordering on 8 in trust and efficiency. ERC and PP voters also give the police force a notable average score. The voters of Junts, ECP and Vox move around 6, while those of the CUP give a scraped approval to the Catalan police.
