The Valencian automotive cluster takes off after the successes with Seat-Volkswagen and Ford

The Valencian automotive cluster, AVIA, now also called mobility, wanted yesterday to offer a special recognition to the Generalitat Valenciana "for the effort made in the last two years in favor of the sector". He did it during the V edition of his "CV Motor Night", held last night at the Hotel Balneario Las Arenas.

The cluster thus recognized the work of the Valencian Government to attract the investment of Seat-Volkswagen in Sagunt and the confirmation that Ford Almussafes will manufacture the electric models of the American multinational, a decision confirmed in June after many months of nerves and waiting .

According to the members of Avia's board of directors, the award is for "society as a whole and all the agents who have intervened in the hard process of attracting these investments."

Thus, Avia considers that the recognition of the Generalitat Valenciana received yesterday by Minister Rebeca Torró -who participated in the negotiations with the German multinational- is, in fact, "a recognition of all those involved, from the interlocutors with the directors of both companies, Volkswagen and Ford, to employees, especially Ford, through the mayors of both towns, the negotiation teams and society as a whole. The recognition is for all Valencians".

During the inauguration speech, the president of the entity, Mónica Alegre, presented the new image of Avia and its new nomenclature: Automotive and Mobility Cluster, Comunitat Valenciana; e she made reference to the call recently made by the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, to set up a mobility cluster. In the words of the president, "from Avia we claim that the automotive and mobility cluster is us and hence this new image".

On the other hand, the unanimous feeling of Avia's associates - a total of 116 companies in the sector - has been to demand that manufacturers "put themselves in the shoes of suppliers to achieve a win-win". Among the attendees, voices have also been heard referring to the gap that still exists "between the capacity of manufacturers and suppliers to manufacture electric vehicles and the limited recharging capacity and the final price that discourages consumers".

And also, automotive suppliers have claimed the effort that the industry is making to achieve the decarbonisation of both the final product and the production process itself, with the implementation of increasingly sustainable systems.

At the meeting, the award was given to the winning companies in this post-pandemic edition: José Alcántara, from Matrices Alcántara in Business Dedication, Gestamp in Business Excellence, Neptury Technologies in Innovative SME and Nutai in the new category, convened this year, of Innovation in sustainable and connected mobility.
