The department has been investigating this company since June 2020, when the immigration agency and the employee rights section received complaints of the existence of such discrimination against non-resident citizens.
“Our investigation has revealed that Space X refused to consider or hire refugees based on their status and imposed a ban on hiring regardless of qualifications, in violation of federal law,” Kristen Clarke, prosecutor, said in a statement. assistant in the civil rights division of said department.
Clarke insisted that the DOJ found that "Space X recruiters and senior management actively participated in attempts to discourage asylees and refugees from seeking opportunities with the company."

The complaint seeks to “obtain fair consideration and back pay for asylees and refugees who were deterred or denied employment at Space X due to alleged discrimination,” as well as sanctions and policy changes by the company. .
