The trial begins against the Vázquez twins for killing the boyfriend of one of them

The Vázquez Alarcón twins sit in the dock today alongside the boyfriend of one of them, Isaac Gil, for having killed the romantic partner of the other sister, Pedro Fernández. Dolores, Pilar and Isaac are accused of murder with malice and cruelty and face a sentence of 24 years in prison. In the case of Dolores, the prosecution requests six more months in prison by applying an aggravating circumstance of kinship since she was the deceased's girlfriend. The crime was committed in the early morning of July 10, 2021 in a building in Sabadell. There is a multitude of evidence that surrounds the twins and indicates that the murder was planned. Dolores invited Pedro to spend the night at her house. Her romantic relationship was not going well and although Pedro did not see it clearly and wanted to break it off, he ended up accepting. While the man was sleeping relaxed in his underwear on the bed next to Dolores, the woman got out of bed and opened the door. It was two in the morning. Her sister Pilar and her brother-in-law, Isaac, appeared there. The man broke into the apartment and hit Pedro with a crowbar, a pointed lever-type tool. “He hit him in the head at least twelve times,” states the prosecutor's indictment.

The plan that the twins and Isaac had drawn up consisted of killing Pedro in the room, wrapping him in a blanket and transporting him to a forest. However, Pedro did not die instantly but managed to escape to the fourth floor landing and even go down to the floor below. There Isaac continued to hit him until he finally collapsed. Why did they want to kill him? Dolores, who had problems with alcohol, the days before the crime, was walking around Sabadell showing a photo of herself with wounds and bruises on her face that she claimed were from a beating by Pedro. In reality, those injuries were caused by the woman when she fell while drunk. Now, the two twins allege that Dolores suffered abuse without any evidence having emerged.

The blows, screams and noise woke up some neighbors who surprised the perpetrator with the body on the landing. Two residents also held their mobile phones close to the peephole and recorded the scene. There they captured Isaac kicking Pedro's corpse and stepping on his chest to verify that he was dead. Later, the neighbors also recorded the two twins cleaning the trail of blood that Pedro had left when trying to escape. “The three accused tried to clean the blood stains and organic remains resulting from the assault in order to eliminate all vestiges of it, after having wrapped Pedro's inert body in a blanket and moved it inside her apartment, moment in which they were surprised by the police officers,” the prosecutor emphasizes in his indictment.

The appearance of those unexpected witnesses disrupted the plans. The neighbors notified the Mossos that in a matter of a few minutes they showed up at the building and surprised Isaac stained with blood and the twins cleaning the blood while Pedro's body was wrapped in a blanket. At that first moment, Isaac confessed to the crime without involving the twins.

However, six months later, upon analyzing the content of the sisters' cell phones, the Mossos detain them. On the phones they found a multitude of WhatsApp messages between the three involved in which they planned Pedro's crime openly and with extreme coldness. Pilar sends a message to her boyfriend Isaac in which they discuss the steps to follow to commit the crime. “Hello 'darling', I've been talking to my sister on the phone and she's bad, bad. We've been talking... because she can't take it anymore, and she's normal... about how to get chloroform, honey, to put him to sleep and then... that. Know? Because she doesn't want this Friday to happen now. And I agree with that. So, if we can get it so that she can sleep on it and we can finish it off, then it will be done on Friday night. I ask for my personal day. No problem. We'll continue talking later, I'm going out shopping. See you later.” In a video intercepted by the Mossos, Isaac appears announcing to his girlfriend that he had purchased an electronic device that they intended to use to attack the victim.

Pilar and her boyfriend Isaac have been in prison for two years while Dolores, the victim's partner, was released after the Barcelona Court accepted her appeal.
