In the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can discover the little-known and beautiful church of Sant Vicenç de Rus, located in the municipality of Castellar de N'Hug, in the region of Berguedà, next to the road to La Pobla de Lillet .
Documented since the end of the 10th century, the current church is in the Lombard Romanesque style. It presents the characteristic decoration of blind arches on the outside and, on the inside, a copy of the wall paintings in the apse, which we can see in detail in this photographic report.
The original paintings are in the Diocesan and Regional Museum of Solsona. The temple underwent renovations in the 14th, 18th and 19th centuries, in which side chapels were opened.
The most interesting is that of Santa Madalena, built around the year 1300, with Gothic wall paintings and legendary images of the saint's life.
The first pre-Romanesque church is documented from 950 as one of the possessions of the monastery of Sant Llorenç near Bagà. It even had its own cemetery, with tombs carved into the rock.
On February 6, 1006, the Bishop of Urgell consecrated the new Romanesque building, which suffered damage to its walls caused by the earthquakes of the years 1420 and 1430. During the 18th century it became dependent on Santa María de Castellar de n'Hug.
