The TecnoCampus inaugurates a new audio recording and editing studio with state-of-the-art technology

The Mataró TecnoCampus has today inaugurated a new recording studio equipped with cutting-edge technology for audio recording and editing. The new equipment, which has cost 112,000 euros, is adapted to the current standards of the music industry.

This study will make it possible to reconcile the conditions of recording and professional musical production with the teaching task, since it has a control that incorporates a grandstand with capacity for 25 students.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Mataró and President of TecnoCampus, David Bote, the General Manager of TecnoCampus, Josep Lluís Checa; and the coordinators of the degree in Audiovisual Media, Jordi Roquer and Rafa Suárez. The event was also attended by the former director of Catalunya Ràdio and Digital Media of the CCMA, Saül Gordillo, who gave a talk on innovation and new audiences in the audiovisual sector.

In his speech, Gordillo highlighted the commitment to native digital content, designed for new forms of consumption such as podcasts with immersive sound or videos on platforms such as YouTube. "Radio", he has highlighted, "is also visual, and must use audiovisual materials and social networks". Programs such as "El búnker", "Crims" or "Adolescents", he concluded, are the fruit of this strategic vision to renew content and forms of distribution "with the aim of rejuvenating audiences.

The inaugurated space consists of a recording room with direct vision in the control room, in addition to video and audio connection with other spaces of the TecnoCampus such as the set or the radio studios. With this infrastructure, small and large format recordings can be made, from traditional productions to orchestral recordings.

In the technical field, it has a complete range of specialized microphones, Neve, Api and Focusrite preamps, among others, and the Staten Raven control system, which allows working with two large touch screens on all the editing parameters typical of a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). The studio also incorporates a Dolby Atmos monitoring system, a multichannel audio system, increasingly used in cinema, video games and music, from which the user lives an immersive experience.

During the inauguration, the characteristics of the studio were put to the test with the musical performance of the group NOUNEE, led by a student of the Degree in Audiovisual Media, Abril Ndjel.

Coinciding with the inauguration of this space, today a plaque was also unveiled in tribute to Professor Joan Jou, who died last year and who was one of the main promoters of the creation of the Degree in Audiovisual Media.

By agreement of the TecnoCampus Foundation Board of Trustees, the SERMAT (audiovisual material loan service) will from now on be dedicated to Professor Jou. Professor Alfons Palacios has been in charge of dedicating a few words in memory of Joan Jou as the closing of the act.
