The rain that Storm Aline has left throughout the entire day this Thursday in practically the entire Community of Madrid, especially in the second part of the day, causes complications in all accesses to the capital in the early afternoon and in practically all sections of the M-40.
Sources from the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) have explained to Europa Press that, in addition, the M-50 has been closed since shortly before 2:00 p.m. at kilometer 31, in both directions, at the height of the town of Rivas.
In addition, the six highways presented traffic complications in the early afternoon both at the entrances and exits of the capital, in both directions. The M-40, likewise, registered congested traffic in practically all of its sections.
The State Meteorological Agency has activated the yellow warning for this Thursday due to significant rains in several regions of the region and winds throughout the Community.
Specifically, heavy rainfall is expected in the South, Vegas and West areas of Madrid between 12 and 10 p.m., with 15 millimeters of water accumulated in one hour and 40 millimeters in twelve hours.
On the other hand, maximum wind gusts of 80 kilometers per hour from the southwest and west are expected throughout the region also tomorrow, Thursday, between 4 p.m. and midnight.
Firefighters from the Community of Madrid carried out 50 interventions from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. this Thursday for problems caused by the heavy rains, none of them particularly serious, a spokesperson for Emergencies 112 reported.
In this period of time, the regional Emergency Center has managed more than 300 files related to rain, especially for water ponds on public roads, the most important has been the one located at kilometer 10 of the M-406, in Getafe, which causes a total cut in one of the directions. The situation could be complicated this afternoon by the forecasted strong gusts of wind.
The heavy rains have also led to the temporary suspension of two metro lines. On the 5th, as it passed through Marqués de Vadillo, dozens of users have seen how the convoy in which they were traveling has stopped in the middle of the Marqués de Vadillo tunnel. “They are not given any information and there are people who are already getting hysterical. We are receiving WhatsApp from friends. Please do something,” some tweeters denounced on social networks.
Line 2, at the Banco de España station and line 6 in Legazpi Square, are also suffering incidents due to the accumulation of water on the tracks and vestibules.
Likewise, in the Cercanías network, the service on line C-4 between Atocha and Nuevos Ministerios through the Sol tunnel is interrupted and it circulates through the Recoletos tunnel. Some trains on this line, as well as line C-3, rotate in Villaverde Alto or Atocha.
There are also problems due to water accumulation on lines C-3A, C-8 and C-10, with the Pinar de las Rozas commercial stop suspended for trains traveling to Madrid due to flooding of an underpass at the station.
