The State assigns 14% of the European aid funds for communities to Catalonia

The allocation of the Next Generation to the autonomous governments to manage them harms Catalonia and Madrid since they receive a lower percentage than their weight in GDP, according to estimates by the Chamber of Commerce of Catalonia. Specifically, between 2021 and 2022 of all that the State has transferred to the communities, 14.3% has gone to Catalonia while its weight in GDP is 19% and in population 16%. The comparison with Madrid is worse, where despite representing 19.5% of GDP, it has obtained 10.4% of resources.

That is the amount that the State transfers to the communities, but apart is the money that the Government delivers directly through the Perte. In this case, companies located in Catalonia receive 21.1% of the total allocations.

The transfer of funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR) to Catalonia rises to 3,055 million euros. Of these, a total of 2,193 million have been assigned directly to the Generalitat and have already been effectively transferred. They are the ones that represent the aforementioned 16.4%
