The Spanish internationals insist on their desire "not to be called up"

The Spanish internationals have insisted this Monday in a statement on their "will not to be called up for justified reasons" for the women's soccer team, hours after the new national coach, Montse Tomé, announced the list of the 23 players called for the first two commitments of the League of Nations.

The soccer players point out that what was expressed in a previous statement "makes clear and without any option for another interpretation" their "firm will not to be called up for justified reasons" and that "these statements remain fully valid."

The players clarify that "during the days following that statement" they want to "make it known to the public that nothing different from that has been transmitted to any member of the RFEF", which is why they "expressly request that the information that is transmitted publicly be rigorous."

"We, as elite professional players and after everything that happened today, will study the possible legal consequences to which the RFEF exposes us by putting us on a list from which we had asked not to be called for reasons already explained publicly and with more detail to the RFEF, and with this make the best decision for our future and for our health," they add.

Likewise, they consider that the call "has not been made in a timely manner, in accordance with art. 3.2 of Annex I of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of FIFA Players", so they understand that the RFEF "is not "is in a position" to demand that they "come to it".

"We regret once again that our Federation places us in a situation that we would never have wanted," they conclude in their note.

On September 15, 39 players, including 21 of the 23 world champions, demanded that the RFEF restructure the women's soccer organization chart and assured that the changes made in the organization "are not enough for them to feel in a safe place." ".

In the statement that day, the players asked the RFEF for five changes: The restructuring of the women's football organization chart and that of the presidential cabinet and general secretary; the resignation of the president of the RFEF, a position now held on an interim basis by Pedro Rocha, and the restructuring of the communication and marketing area, as well as the integrity department.

"Today, as we have transmitted to the RFEF, the changes that have occurred are not enough for the players to feel in a safe place where women are respected, we are committed to women's football where we can give our maximum performance. ", they stated.

This statement from the players caused the RFEF to postpone the announcement of Montse Tomé's call-up for the Nations League matches against Sweden and Switzerland scheduled for that same September 15.

This Monday, fifteen world champions, as well as several players who did not participate in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, such as Mapi León and Patri Guijarro, appear in Tomé's call for the Nations League matches against Sweden, this Friday , and Switzerland, on Tuesday of next week, in which Jenni Hermoso will not be there.

The world champions present in the list of those summoned are: Misa Rodríguez, Cata Coll, Enith Salón (goalkeeper); Irene Paredes, Oihane Hernández, Olga Carmona, Ona Batlle (defenders), Aitana Bonmatí, Alexia Putellas, María Pérez, Tere Abelleira (midfielders), Athenea del Castillo, Esther González, Eva Navarro and Mariona Caldentey (forwards).

In addition to Mapi León and Patri Guijarro, the most significant of those who, before the World Cup, refused to participate in the national team, other players who were not in the universal event are mentioned, such as the defenders Laia Aleixandri and María Méndez, the midfielder Rosa Márquez and forwards Inma Gabarro, Amaiur Sarriegi and Lucía García.

The players who were in the World Cup and who have now been left off the list, for different reasons, are Jenni Hermoso, Rocío Gálvez, Salma Paralluelo, Laia Codina, Ivana Andrés, Irene Guerrero, Claudia Zornoza and Alba Redondo.

This first call from Montse Tomé, who has replaced Jorge Vilda after his dismissal, comes after a total of 39 players, including all the world champions except Athenea del Castillo and Claudia Zornoza, who retired from the national team, demanded three days ago, despite the departure of the previous coach and Luis Rubiales, already former president of the RFEF, a restructuring of the women's football organization chart, the presidential cabinet and the general secretary, and the communications area still had to take place. and marketing and integrity management to return to the selection.

A few hours before the presentation and the list, the RFEF, now headed by the president of the managing committee, Pedro Rocha, published a statement in which it urged the national team's players "to join the change led" by the organization. and guaranteed them "a safe environment" for their return to the team.

Spain, current world champion, must begin its participation in the Nations League, which is also a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Games, against Sweden in Gothenburg on Friday and on Tuesday the 26th against Switzerland in Córdoba.
