The sky falls over Platja d'Aro

It seemed as if the sky wanted to collapse over Platja d'Aro, with this gigantic cloud covering this town in Baix Empordà yesterday, as seen in this snapshot in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos.

These types of large clouds are caused by large masses of air that rise and then condense, usually due to an incoming front, which usually generates more or less precipitation.

The sky has acquired a blackened gray tone that makes the image of the giant cloud that seems to want to cover everything as if it were a large blanket even more spectacular. Although it seems more like the threatening promise of a great storm.

Platja d’Aro was originally a small fishing village on the road from Palamós to Sant Feliu de Guíxols located on a large 2 km beach. Now it lives off of tourist success and is full of hotels and other places for vacation use.

It is one of the most important tourist destinations and third residences in the Girona regions, which means that in summer its inhabitants reach 50,000 inhabitants, while in winter only about 10,000 reside.
