The Rubiralta entrust the future of Celsa to the Government's decision on the change in ownership

The Rubiralta family trusts the future of its participation in its company Celsa to the decision made by the Government on whether or not to authorize foreign groups to take control of a strategic company for Spain such as the steel mill. In a statement, the current owners recall that "the restructuring plan approved in court means the takeover by foreign investors of a strategic Spanish company." The family adds that "this fact, in accordance with Law 19/2003 of July 4 on the legal regime of capital movements and economic transactions abroad, requires express authorization from the Government of Spain."

Yesterday the Ministry of Industry in a statement already assured that the "operation is subject to the Control of Foreign Investments" and added that "the effective control of the company by the financial creditors will not become effective until the Council of Ministers authorizes the operation, for which investors must submit the corresponding consultation or request for authorization".

In the statement issued this morning, Celsa specifies that "within the necessary respect for the court ruling, it will ensure industrial, social and economic interests that not only affect the company but its entire environment, value chain and workers". In this sense, the Castellbisbal-based company defines itself as a "strategic company for the Spanish and European economy, which has developed a unique and benchmark model for the production of circular, low-emission steel".

From the Ministry of Industry, yesterday it was highlighted that "the Government will negotiate with the new owners to guarantee the future viability of the company, as well as the integrity of its business units, the maintenance of all jobs, the continuity of the domicile in Spain and the implementation of a modern, independent and professional corporate governance".
