The route to follow at Barça in Montjuïc

Today, with the Joan Gamper trophy dispute, a new routine begins for Barça fans. In principle, temporary until November 2024. From the neighborhood of Les Corts in Montjuïc. From the top of Diagonal as epicenter to Plaza España. In short, from the Camp Nou to the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.

The culés will have to reformulate their usual route to attend the matches. Leaving the car aside, as recommended by the Barcelona entity and the City Council, they must forget about previous connections with public transport to find the shortest way to the beginning of the magical mountain slope. That will be just the first step before climbing to the top of the iconic Barcelona hill. The City Council and Barça have invested 5.9 million, of which 3.3 have been paid by the club, to put a sustainable mobility plan on the ground that will allow visitors to approach the stadium in different ways.

The option preferred by the club and the Consistory is to walk one of the three main itineraries that have been specially signposted. Starting from the Venetian towers located at the beginning of Avenida Maria Cristina, where they can use the escalators, those attending the match will have to travel about 1.3 kilometers for 20 minutes with a drop of 70 meters. If they choose to start the journey on calle Foc, from the Fira 2 venue, where a car park with 2,000 spaces has been set up for those with a ticket, fans will walk more than two kilometers and climb 90 meters on average hour. The third option is to take the funicular railway first on Avenida Paral·lel, with a capacity for 8,000 people every hour. Arriving at Avenida Miramar, the fans will have 800 meters and 10 minutes to the Lluís Companys.

If you don't want to go on foot, you can also get to the stadium accessing one of the free shuttle buses with your ticket, each one with the capacity to absorb a maximum of 4,400 people per hour, which will start its route in Plaza España and Calle Foc two hours before the game with a frequency of four minutes. Beyond special services, in general public transport will be reinforced. The mobility plan also includes going up on a scooter or by bicycle, especially when the bike lane between Miramar Avenue and Plaza España passing through the stadium is finished in September. In all these sections, the sidewalks, gardens and lighting have been improved, among other things, an aspect that will provide more security.

The private vehicle, on the other hand, will be very limited. The motorcycles will have a parking lot with 3,500 spaces between Calle Doctor Font y Quer and Paseo del Migdia. Cars will be prohibited from entering, except for the 1,500 accredited by the club to park in the Olympic ring. For their part, the supporters clubs will have parking for 70 coaches and only 70 vehicles carrying people with reduced mobility will be able to enter the area closest to the stadium.

The mountain will be closed to traffic three hours before the game and the green parking areas in the adjoining neighborhoods will be for residents only. Vehicles parked in unauthorized areas will be removed by the Urban Police. Barça recommends arriving in advance to avoid crowds and possible collapses.
