The remodeling and expansion works of the Tàrrega CAP begin, which will last 18 months

This Monday the remodeling and expansion works of the Primary Care Center (CAP) of Tàrrega (Lleida) began, which will last 18 months.

The work will entail a 35% expansion of the surface of the current building, with an additional 1,100 square meters, allowing the addition of 13 new consultation rooms, 2 waiting rooms and a training room.

The works, long claimed by the city, will mean an improvement in healthcare for citizens, since the current building, which dates back to 1992, had become too small.

The Lleida Provincial Council finances the project with 4.14 million euros and CatSalut contributes 220,000 euros for equipment.

The mayor of Tàrrega, Alba Pijuan, speaks of a "historic day", since it is a project "desired and longed for by the citizens of Tàrrega and the region" for more than 18 years.

He has justified that since 1992 the city has grown "a lot" to reach 18,500 inhabitants and that, therefore, the services offered must also grow proportionally.

The president of the Lleida Provincial Council, Joan Talarn, has expressed himself in the same sense, highlighting that these are "long-awaited" works that will provide service to a population of around 40,000 people from the ABS of Bellpuig, Agramunt and Tàrrega and highlighted that good primary services are "fundamental" for people to take root in the territory.
