The relief of Guilarte in the list of Manuel Valls in Barcelona, now in the PSC, renounces the minutes

Fernando Carrera, now advisor to the PSC and attached to the first secretary of the party in Ciutat Vella, announced this Tuesday that he is resigning from the act of councilor that he would have to assume after the resignation of the president of the municipal group of Cs in the Barcelona City Council, Light Guilarte. He does so in congruence with his current militancy in the Catalan Socialist Party.

Carrera, who in the last elections ran under the acronym of the former French Prime Minister and former candidate for the Consistory, Manuel Valls, has justified his decision by "common sense", to "not contribute to more noise, or more trouble" and because the votes that would allow him to collect the minutes belong "to a political project that is not mine".

At a press conference from the PSC headquarters in Barcelona, the leader explained that he is renouncing the minutes "because this is not a game of chairs and not everything goes", and although "there are people who can do anything for a chair" The most "disruptive" thing is, in his opinion, to make the decision that he considers "correct" in favor of "clean and coherent" politics.

"I am not a turncoat, nor do I believe in getting records in this way," he justified. And "I will not contribute to generating more noise or more trouble" in the Consistory, he remarked, because "the climate" that the city needs at this time is "common sense, honesty, seriousness, stability and rigor".

Carrera has reaffirmed his commitment to the project that will be headed by the first deputy mayor Jaume Collboni, the next PSC candidate for mayor of Barcelona, to try to win the next elections in May 2023: "My project is called PSC" and "my commitment today is to work for Collboni to be the next mayor (...). I am convinced that we will win at the polls.”

With his resignation, Carrera leaves paso a la siguiente in the list that ran under the acronym of Barcelona for Change, Julia Barea, current councilor of Citizens in the district of Ciutat Vella. And for that he has received the thanks of Collboni via social networks for "a gesture that honors and dignifies politics".

The bizarre situation in which Guilarte's resignation left Carrera took the socialist leader out of Barcelona. Just landed from a personal trip, Carrera consulted with the highest officials of the PSC in Barcelona and also had the opportunity to speak with Manuel Valls, whom he became a person of the utmost trust. The decision was not long in coming and the resignation was announced just 24 hours later.

The now leader of the PSC signed for the Collboni team in May 2021, a movement that swelled the count of leaks within the Valls formation, first with Eva Parera, who stood for the Catalan elections on 14-F 2020 as a PP candidate and became a deputy of the Parliament, then with the abandonment of the policy of the former Minister of Labor and former mayor of L'Hospitalet, Celestino Corbacho, and now with the departure of Guilarte.
