The PSPV proposes to recover part of the ZAL de València to turn it into a green area

The deputy mayor of Valencia and general secretary of the PSPV-PSOE in the city, Sandra Gómez, has announced her party's proposal to recover part of the land in the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) and convert it into a large green area that unites the Turia Garden with the Albufera.

This was stated on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the inauguration of the first section of the Turia river at the hands of the former socialist mayor Ricard Pérez Casado and the president of the Generalitat Joan Lerma.

"He was a brave mayor who turned the old riverbed into a large garden instead of a highway and under that philosophy I want to do the same with the ZAL," said Gómez, who has advocated recovering part of the land of what " today it is an area of logistics activities, gray and made of cement, to link them with the Parque de Deembocadura".

He has stated that it is "a brave decision", but believes that the effort "is worth it" because it will allow "having the largest urban park in all of Europe", a park that goes from Riba-roja, from the Natural Park of Turia, to the Albufera forming a great green corridor.

Gómez has stressed the need for courageous environmental policies that, in addition, "improve the living conditions of working-class neighborhoods abandoned by the right, such as Nazaret and La Punta."

The declarations of the deputy mayor and general secretary of the socialists in the city have taken place within the framework of a new act of the "Your neighborhood on the map" campaign, on the occasion of the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the inauguration of the first sections of the Turia Garden.

During the act, which was held in the Turia Gardens, the Socialists distributed brochures and placed banners on the garden's bridges claiming the brave policies that led to the creation of this natural urban enclave that has become in a reference in Europe.

Gómez has vindicated the courage of the residents of València as well as their political representatives to make the Turia riverbed a green area that would surround the entire city instead of the motorway that had been initially projected.

The deputy mayor has shown her commitment and that of the PSPV to complete the legacy that Lerma and Casado left for the city, as well as the former Parks and Gardens Councilor Carmen Arjona and the former Urban Planning Councilor Juan Antonio Lloret, all of them architects of a project that today articulates and connects the entire city.

Gómez has underlined his decision to complete this emblematic space to which the Valencians feel so linked, with projects such as the Parque de Desembocadura, the Delta Verde del Grao or the green corridor that should unite the Parque de Cabecera with the Parque Natural del Turia.

From the Urban Planning delegation, he stressed, the first steps are being taken in the completion of this unique green area in Europe. "Just a week ago we presented the competition that will define the design of the last sections of the Turia Garden from the City of Sciences to Nazareth in the coming months," he said.
