The PSOE will celebrate 40 years of González's triumph with events throughout the country

The PSOE is preparing a campaign of events throughout Spain to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the victory of Felipe González on October 28, 1982, among which there will be a great event with President Pedro Sánchez and the former socialist presidents of the Government. Madrid, Barcelona and Seville will be the points where the activities will be concentrated, informed socialist sources.

In Ferraz they are still closing the organization of these events and they are considering that the central meeting, which will be attended by the entire leadership of the party plus some historical leaders, could be held in Seville – González's hometown – on Saturday, October 29, although it could have place in Madrid. Another event in Barcelona with the PSC is also planned that week.

The Socialists will turn to this anniversary which was a historic victory for the PSOE, the first after the Second Republic. It provided the party with a very large absolute majority that has not been repeated, 202 seats out of the 350 in the Congress of Deputies, by achieving more than 10 million votes (46%) in a day in which almost 80% voted of the census and after leading an electoral campaign under the slogan "For change".

The 'photo of the Palace', which is already part of the history of Spain, staged the victory with Felipe González and Alfonso Guerra going out to the balcony of Suite 110 of the aforementioned hotel, being acclaimed by the crowd gathered to celebrate the socialist victory.

Now, when they are 40 years old, the socialists want to remember that moment. For this they prepare a campaign of events for about five days. In addition to Sánchez, González and José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, it is expected that the regional presidents and former historical leaders of the party will also attend the central act, with the question of whether Manuel Chaves will attend, who in addition to having been president of the Junta for 19 years of Andalusia was also president of the PSOE and José Antonio Griñán –with 4 years at the head of the Andalusian Board and two in the presidency of the PSOE–, after having been sentenced for the ERE case.
