The PSOE tombs, with the support of PP and Vox, the investigation commission on the fence of Melilla

Second failed attempt to open a commission of inquiry into the Melilla tragedy. The PSOE, with the support of the Popular Party and Vox, has knocked down the proposal promoted by the government's partners in the Congress of Deputies. On September 13, they refused to open it, alleging that the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, would appear in parliament to render an account on the matter. Now, the excuse is similar again: the head of the Interior will appear again in plenary session on November 30, as the groups have agreed.

The Board of Spokespersons, which has met for the second time this week, has stopped short the initiative carried out by Unidas Podemos, ERC, Bildu, Más País, Compromís, the BNG, Junts, PDeCAT and the CUP. In the text, among other aspects, it was requested to investigate in parliament the number of victims left by the avalanche of immigrants who tried to cross the border post of the Chinatown of Melilla on June 24. Also "passivity" with which, in the opinion of the signatories, the Spanish police acted so that the Moroccans carried out hot returns from national territory.

The Popular Party saves, for now, the trick of presenting its own commission of investigation into the facts, once they listen to the explanations of the Minister of the Interior. Fernando Grande-Marlaska will appear in plenary session of Congress on November 30 to render an account of the actions of the department that he directs for the second time. An appearance that, as the popular have warned, "is not at their own will."

The spokesperson for the Popular Group in Congress, Cuca Gamarra, has assured that Marlaska will go to the lower house "with her ears" to give some explanations that, in her opinion, "a sensitive government would have done from minute one." However, she has already hinted at her position before this appearance. In his opinion, the head of the Interior, in this order, must: provide all the information about the tragedy, rectify, acknowledge that he has lied and resign.

For its part, the Interior Commission will be able to view all the images of the tragedy. Although it will not be in the Congress of Deputies, but will be at the headquarters of the Ministry, as required. The parliamentarians who went to the autonomous city to listen to explanations about what happened by the Civil Guard Command complained that they could not view all the images.
