The PSOE expels from the party 5 of its 8 representatives in the Ávila Provincial Council

The Federal Executive Commission (CEF) of the PSOE has ratified the proposal of the Provincial Executive Commission (CEP) to expel from the party in Ávila five of its eight representatives in the Provincial Council after having opened a disciplinary file.

In addition, after the resolution of the file, a sixth provincial deputy of the socialist group ceases to belong to it, although he is not expelled from the formation as he has the status of independent, sources from the Avila PSOE have confirmed to Efe.

This decision has been known hours before the plenary session of the provincial institution is held this Monday, in which it is possible that the situation in which the corporation remains will be addressed, which, after the last Municipal Elections, was made up of 12 representatives of the PP; 8 from the PSOE, 4 from Por Ávila and 1 from Cs.

Now, with this movement, the plenary session of the provincial institution could be made up of 12 popular deputies and one of Cs -the two forces that govern in coalition-, while the PSOE would go from 8 to 2 and the group of unassigned would be integrated by 7 deputies: the 6 from the PSOE and the one expelled from Por Ávila 9 months ago.

The decision to expel the five provincial deputies from the PSOE came about because they opposed the order of the Provincial Executive to replace Pedro José Muñoz as spokesperson, who in turn is mayor of the Avila municipality of Cebreros (3,300 inhabitants), where the Socialists rule with an absolute majority.

The opinion of the Federal Executive comes at the proposal of the Socialist Executive of Avila which, after opening the disciplinary files, raised the expulsion files to the highest body of the party, by not complying with the decision to replace the spokesperson in the provincial institution, after the Primary process that culminated with the Provincial Congress.

This process was involved in controversy, since the socialist spokesman for the Diputación, Pedro José Muñoz, supported the also provincial deputy and mayor of Navarrevisca, Leticia Sánchez, as an alternative candidate to the provincial secretary, Jesús Caro, who was re-elected with 53 percent of the vote in the primaries.

During the process, both Muñoz and Sánchez denounced the "disproportionate" affiliations that, in their opinion, occurred in Caro's own group in Pajares de Adaja, the town of which he is mayor.

Finally, and after winning with 53 percent of the votes, Leticia Sánchez and Pedro José Muñoz appealed this process before the justice system, which a few weeks ago dismissed the precautionary measures requested by both, demanding the suspension of the expulsion file.

Faced with this situation, the CEP decided to replace Muñoz as spokesperson for the PSOE in the Provincial Council, a decision that was not accepted by six of the eight members of the group, opening at that time the process that has ended with the expulsion of five from the PSOE. of the eight provincial deputies of this formation.
