The PSOE disavows former minister Trujillo after affirming that Ceuta and Melilla are "vestiges of the past"

The socialist spokesman in Congress, Patxi López, has indicated this Sunday that the Government does not agree with the statements of the former minister María Antonia Trujillo on Ceuta and Melilla and that the socialists do not doubt "the Spanishness" of both cities.

The former minister stated at a conference in the Moroccan city of Tetouan -some 40 kilometers from the border with Ceuta- that the Spanish cities of Ceuta and Melilla "represent an affront to the territorial integrity of Morocco" and "are vestiges of the past that interfere in its relations with Spain.

At a press conference in Bilbao, López has assured that he does not share this consideration, which will be the "particular opinion" of the former minister, as he has indicated. "We do not doubt the Spanishness of Ceuta and Melilla", the socialist spokesman has settled in the Congress of Deputies.
