The prosecutor demands the file of the case of Núria Marín for alleged corruption

The prosecutor has asked the judge investigating the alleged corruption case of the Consell Esportiu de l'Hospitalet de Llobregat to file the pending case against the mayor of the second city of Catalonia and president of the Diputación de Barcelona, Núria Marín.

Through a letter, the Prosecutor's Office argues, after analyzing all the evidence on the alleged diversion of subsidies for personal purposes through mendacious documentation, that the socialist was not involved in the matter that has led to the resignation of two councillors: Cris Plaza and Cristian Alcazar.

"There is not a single fact that allows us to deduce -never suppose or presume- that the investigated acted in flagrant or evident contradiction with the Law," says the letter. "Neither in the omission of procedures in the different subsidy files (over which, on the other hand, it had no competence) nor in the adoption of any resolution", she adds.

Marín was accused of, mainly, omission of the duty to prosecute the crime. Another socialist mayor of l'Hospitalet, Jaume Graells, revealed the alleged irregularities to him. The case has two other separate pieces: one affects Cornellà and the other is about an alleged simulated dismissal that Plaza charged after agreeing with Alcázar.

"Taking into account the complexity of the expected accounting expert -and, therefore, the time necessary to carry it out-, the null relationship of its result with the facts attributed to the investigated", the prosecutor demands that the " provisional and partial dismissal" of the case that falls on the mayor of l'Hospitalet de Llobregat.

The commons, who exercise popular accusation, have already announced that they oppose the filing of the case on Marín when the mayor requested it. So the ball is now in the judge's court.
