The price of electricity falls and marks this Sunday its minimum since August 2021

The average price of electricity in the wholesale market fell 30.6% this Sunday, standing at 72.84 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), with the cost of the 'pool' and compensation to gas companies, compared to 104.90 euros from yesterday, Saturday. This is its lowest price since August 7, 2021, when it cost 65.64 euros.

According to the latest data from the Iberian Electricity Market Operator (OMIE) collected by Servimedia, this is the fourth consecutive day in which the cap on gas is not applied since its cost in the Mibgas has not reached the 40 euros that serve reference to activate the mechanism.

The price of the 'pool' remains at 72.84 euros, 31.2% less than the 105.91 euros of yesterday, Saturday.

For its part, the amount of gas compensation will be 0 euros per MWh, compared to -1.01 euros yesterday. The compensation was 11.94 euros on Sunday of last week.

In short, the 72.84 euros per MWh represent a drop of 37.2% compared to the 115.91 euros of Sunday last week and a decrease of 69.9% compared to the 241.85 euros of a month ago , The 23th of September.

In a year-on-year comparison, this Sunday a reduction of 65.5% was registered, since on October 23 of last year the price was 211.21 euros per MWh.
