The price of electricity drops 36% tomorrow, to 177.46 euros

The average price of electricity in the wholesale market drops by 36.1% tomorrow, Saturday, standing at 177.46 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), with the cost of the 'pool' and compensation to gas companies, compared to 277.82 euros today.

According to the latest data from the Iberian Electricity Market Operator (OMIE) collected by Servimedia, the price of electricity falls below 200 euros for the first time since July 7 and registers its lowest since June 12, before the entry into force of the cap on gas.

The price of the 'pool' remains at 61.68 euros, 64% less than the 171.46 euros of this Friday.

For its part, the amount of gas compensation reaches 115.78 euros per MWh, compared to 106.36 euros today, which translates into a rise of 8.9%. However, the figure is 0.6% lower than the 116.48 euros of compensation on Saturday of last week.

In sum, the 177.46 euros per MWh represent a drop of 39.3% compared to the 249.36 euros of Saturday last week and a decrease of 24.3% on the 243.45 euros of a month ago , on August 17.

In a year-on-year comparison, this Saturday there is a 6.7% increase in price since on September 17 of last year the price was 166.29 euros per MWh.
