The president of the metal employers' association will preside over the Port Authority of Alicante

The president of the Alicante metal employers' association (Fempa), Luis Rodríguez, will be named the new president of the Alicante Port Authority, replacing Julián López Milla.

The decision to take over at the head of the port of Alicante will be made official at an upcoming plenary session of the Valencian Consell chaired by Carlos Mazón, possibly next Friday.

With the appointment of Rodríguez, the new Valencian Government, unlike the previous PP executives, opts for a person outside of political activity - such as Miguel Campoy or José Joaquín Ripoll - and who does not come from the port "family" either. , as was the case of Mario Flores or Sergio Campos.

Luis Rodríguez, 54, joined FEMPA as a lawyer, a federation that represents metal companies in the province of Alicante, of which he was general secretary from 1997 until reaching its executive presidency in 2022.

Rodríguez will replace Julián López Milla, who was appointed in March 2022 following the request for dismissal by his predecessor, Juan Antonio Gisbert, a few days before he died due to illness and after almost seven years in office.

With this appointment, the renewal process culminates at the head of the three port authorities of the three provincial capitals, after Mar Chao in the port of València and Rubén Ibáñez in Castellón.
