The president of BBVA earned 8.29 million in 2022, 6% more

The president of BBVA, Carlos Torres Vila, received 8.29 million euros between fixed salary, variables, in kind and contribution to the pension plan in 2022, 5.8% above the 7.83 million in 2021. Thus It appears in the annual remuneration document presented this Monday by the entity to the CNMV.

Specifically, the manager received 2.92 million fixed, 283,000 in kind and 451,000 in contribution to his pension plan. The most important part is a variable of 4.63 million euros, for the fulfillment of objectives such as the global result, the value of the shares or profitability. All objectives are met.

For his part, the entity's number two, Onur Genç, earned 7.15 million euros, 4.9% more than the 6.81 million euros of the previous year. As in the case of Torres, the bulk (3.56 million) is variable due to the fulfillment of objectives.

During the pandemic, the main managers gave up the variable.

As regards non-executive directors, 4.3 million euros are distributed, an amount almost identical to that of the previous year. The one who charges the most is Jaime Caruana, with 567,000 euros.

The entity recalls that it obtained a record profit of 6,420 million euros in 2022, which represented a year-on-year increase of 38%, which allows it to distribute to its shareholders a cash dividend of 0.43 euros per share, higher by a 39% to the one delivered the previous year.

This dividend is accompanied by a share repurchase program for a total amount of 422 million euros, which will mean total shareholder remuneration equivalent to 0.50 euros per share, adds the bank.
