The PP confirms the "progress" in the CGPJ negotiation but appeals to caution

The PP has issued its own assessment of the open negotiation for the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) recognizing the existence of "progress". The general coordinator of the Popular Party, Elías Bendodo, has been in charge of commenting on the minute and result of the process, although he has avoided detailing the stage of the dialogue up to five times, to allow the conversations "to continue evolving".

"It would not be wise to be broadcasting the progress of these talks live, and", he reiterated, "I say well, the progress of these talks (...) But nothing more," Bendodo said at the press conference after the Committee of the PP Directorate.

The number three of the popular only slightly changed his response when, questioned about whether the interests of ERC in the Constitutional Court would influence the dialogue, he asked to leave that issue on the table of the negotiators. "It is not prudent" to comment on "what one party or another is asking for."

Bendodo has been more loquacious when preparing the ground for the face-to-face meeting that Pedro Sánchez and Alberto Núñez Feijóo will hold this Tuesday in the Senate by summoning the Prime Minister to clarify whether he has agreed to stop applying the High Court ruling of Justice of Catalonia that imposes 25% of Spanish in the classrooms.

This is how Elías Bendodo expressed himself after the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonés, affirmed in an interview that there is an agreement with the central government that implies that they do not "challenge" the Catalan law at school. To which, the general coordinator of the PP, has reacted by urging Sánchez to give "urgent explanations" to make it clear whether or not he agreed to "disobey justice and commit prevarication".

Bendodo has appeared at the headquarters of the PP in Genoa after the meeting of the party's steering committee, highlighting that Sánchez has a "magnificent opportunity" in his appearance in the Upper House to "shed light" on this matter because it is "another red line passed another shame."

The popular ones understand that the Government must explain, "and it is late", if "that stretcher table agreement" existed or not. If true, Bendodo insisted, it would show that the chief executive and the president of the Generalitat "have met to agree to prevaricate" and "not comply with a sentence". "How long will it take to stay screwed to the Moncloa chair?" He asked himself, to define what happened as a "survival pact" between the two presidents.

The number three of the PP has indicated that his party wants that in that appearance in the Senate the head of the Executive also reports on the management of European funds because, as he has said, the Court of Auditors of the EU "has taken the colors to Spain" for being "the worst country of the 27 Member States in the execution" of these funds.

In the same way, he has indicated that Fedea has also warned that this real execution is "much lower than that of the official government figures." "There are many notices already," warned the 'popular' leader in his appearance.

The general coordinator of the PP has also demanded that the chief executive offer explanations for the appointment of Magdalena Valerio as the new president of the Council of State, known yesterday. "With all due respect to Mrs. Valerio, what body do you represent to obtain the authority and respect of the lawyers of the Council of State?", he asked, to add that there is not a week that they do not have a "new chapter of the assault" by Sánchez on the institutions.

Bendodo has pointed out that Sánchez's appointments are "dedazos" and "authoritarian tics that occur when one believes that the farmhouse is theirs and one believes that they can do whatever they want." In his view, democracy is "a much more serious and noble issue", so the President of the Government should have "dignity and stature".

In this sense, he stressed that specialization would be "recommended" in these types of places, in the same way that it would be if a call was made prior to the first opposition party, as he lamented.
