The popular candidate for mayor of the town, Rosa Sánchez, denounced the situation this Wednesday accompanied by the provincial president of the PP, Joaquín Juste. In her appearance, the candidate accused the current mayor of the Aragonese Party (PAR), Rafael Samper, of resorting to "anything goes" in order to remain in power after 28-M.
According to the complaint, a good part of these new incorporations registered since 2019 in the electoral census correspond to people related to the members of the PAR candidacy who do not reside in the town for most of the year, as should be required to be incorporated into the registry. . It so happens that in the last four years 27 residents have died and another 41 no longer reside in Orihuela, losses whose sum yields the same number of registrations registered in this time, according to popular data.
Meanwhile, his partner Juste was "outraged and pissed off" by the situation generated by the census, whose challenge they have requested from the authorities, and blamed Samper directly.
"Those who cheated to win the PAR congress, as their party has done well, intend to do the same in the town," he said, referring to the participation of the Aragonese mayor in the last congress held by his political formation, which It was later annulled by a court ruling.
In his opinion, the Census Bureau should exclude the 68 doubtful registrants so that they do not influence the result of the polls.
For his part, the indicated councilor indicated that it is "totally false" that he or his party have manipulated the census, which has remained almost unchanged in the last three years (from 454 inhabitants in 2021 to 453 in 2023).
"This is a way of campaigning with very bad arts" given the prospect of losing the elections, criticized the mayor, whose party reserved the right to take the measures they deem appropriate.
