The perimeter of the Castellón fire remains stable despite its voracity

The forest fire that since Thursday affects the interior of the province of Castellón continues to be uncontrolled and is characterized this Saturday by its "great voracity" and a "very complicated" situation, although the affected perimeter has not grown in recent hours , which remains at about 35 or 40 kilometers.

This was stated this Saturday by the President of the Valencian Generalitat, Ximo Puig, and the President of the Government of Aragon, Javier Lambán, who visited the Advanced Command Post established in Barracas (Castellón) to coordinate the extinction of the first major fire in the year, whose balance remains at about 4,000 affected hectares.

The fire, in whose extinction 700 people work and has forced the eviction of 1,500 residents of the province of Castellón and 250 in the Aragonese area of the incident, is now at the expense of the evolution of the weather: the southerly component wind is affecting more to Aragon, but it can change and then affect the Valencian flank.

The heavy load of humidity, human work and the absence of wind during the night from Friday to Saturday have helped to achieve the two objectives set by the Advanced Command Post for the Villanueva de Viver fire (Castellón): that the perimeter of the fire and the trace of the fire advance and reach the CV-195 highway, which connects the towns of Montán and Montanejos.

This was stated in a first assessment of the night by the regional secretary for Security and Emergencies of the Generalitat, José María Ángel, who stressed that the "best ally" of the firefighting personnel has been the weather tonight, adverse since last Thursday in the area. At noon another assessment of the situation will be made.

As a result of the fire, 1,500 people from eight municipalities and districts have been evicted --Los Calpes; Fountain the Queen; Los Cantos-La Monzona; Puebla de Arenoso; Montanejos; Arañuel; Montán and Villanueva de Viver-- and two hostels have been established: the Segorbe Municipal Sports Center and the Onda hostel.

As pointed out this Friday by the Minister of Justice, Gabriela Bravo, it is most likely that the evicted could not return to their homes in 48 hours.
