The peculiar electric vehicle that looks like a car but drives like a motorcycle

People who live or work in large cities suffer daily from the worsening traffic conditions caused by dense and crowded urban centers. More and more users consider that light electric vehicles, such as bicycles, scooters or microcars, are the solution to move around the city faster and with greater comfort.

In the quest to improve traffic flow and parking problems, large companies and small start-ups are striving to create new electric micromobility solutions. The Sarit, a compact three-wheeled, zero-emission vehicle made in Canada, emerges as a sustainable urban mobility alternative that promises to help travelers avoid spending long hours in traffic jams.

The Sarit is the company Stronach International's vision for the future of daily city travel. This fun electric vehicle has the appearance of a microcar but is actually a tricycle with a closed aluminum body that provides greater safety and comfort.

It has three wheels, two removable access doors and a small rear trunk with capacity for a sports bag, several grocery bags or an office briefcase. It is really compact, measuring less than one meter wide, 2.28 m long and 1.67 m high. It can comfortably transport one or two people: in the latter case, the passenger travels behind the driver as if it were a motorcycle, sliding the backrest backwards.

Stronach has also taken inspiration from motorcycling when designing the handlebar controls, which feature a three-speed twist throttle, a forward and reverse selector and disc brakes, which operate on all three wheels. Therefore, it does not have brake or accelerator pedals, and has excellent maneuverability.

The Sarit's electric motor is powered by a 96 Ah lithium-ion battery that promises a range of 100 km with each recharge. A standard 120-volt household outlet can be used to recharge it in four and a half hours. In terms of performance, the vehicle can reach a maximum speed of 60 km/h.

The tricycle is very light and the weight distribution of the battery and motor generates a low center of gravity and ensures stability during cornering. It can be optionally equipped with a rear view camera and a stereo sound system.

The electric vehicle is designed for drivers making short trips around the city, as well as around university campuses, within business parks or in gated communities. In fact, a pilot project is currently underway at York University in Toronto with a fleet of Sarits.

In addition to this model, the manufacturer is working on an electric truck version intended for local delivery and maintenance services. The approximate price of the Sarit is around 5,800 euros and it will be produced in Ontario (Canada). In the video that accompanies the news you will be able to see the advantages offered by this new urban electric micromobility solution.
