The owner of the house of 'The Goonies' puts it up for sale fed up with the harassment of the fans of the movie

The home where The Goonies find the map that leads to the treasure is looking for a buyer who wants to live in the main scene of the film. The owner of the property is tired of the number of visits she receives and the inconvenience they cause her and for this reason she has put up the sign that it is for sale with a price of 1.65 million dollars -1.61 million euros –.

Almost 40 years have passed since The Goonies was projected on the big screen, directed by Richard Donner and based on the story by Steven Spielberg. That 1985 film that marked the youth of the time unveiled two actors who years later have been among the most recognized in Hollywood, such as Sean Astin (Sam from The Lord of the Rings) and Josh Brolin (Thanos from Avengers: Infinity War)

The address is a Victorian-style house located in Astoria, in the state of Oregon (United States). Built in 1896, it has two floors, a porch and a covered terrace with views of the Pacific Ocean, which those who saw the film will surely recognize.

The film was a double-edged sword for the owner. The value of the residence increased by fame, but the visits from fans were repeated day after day. For example, in 2015 alone, on the 30th anniversary of the film's premiere, between 12,000 and 15,000 people came to be photographed and observe the house, from the 19th century.

Sandi Preston, who has owned the house since 2001, has said she has felt "harassed" by the number of fans that the film has brought to her home, which has become a pop culture icon.

Such a stir has caused the announcement of the sale of the house that even the actor who gave life to Frodo in The Lord of the Rings, Elijah Wood, has shared it on his social networks. Real estate agent Jordan Miller has stated that the buyer "has to be someone who appreciates this film, its history and this beautiful city."

Local authorities have tried to make it difficult for fans to arrive by imposing fines outside the area, but they have not managed to stop the rate of visits. Many of those who come would like to spend two minutes in the attic where the treasure map from the film was located, but now it has been completely renovated and turned into a bedroom with all the comforts, far from the film set.
