The surprise death of the Sevillian singer and actress María Jiménez on September 7 left Spain orphaned one of the greatest artists in the country's history.

The folklore was suffering from lung cancer, which she had kept secret for several years. Although she fought tooth and nail against illness, she finally couldn't take it anymore and she passed away, leaving behind millions of fans and a great artistic and personal legacy of hers.

Last Monday, her sister Isabel wanted to remember her and revealed what her last moments alive were like. According to the family member, Jiménez waited for her son to arrive at the medical center where he was to die: ''She died 10 minutes after her son arrived at the hospital. "She waited for Alejandro to die."

During her visit to the Atresmedia program presented by Sonsoles Ónega, the sister of the deceased explained that the singer was more than aware of how sick she was and that she had come close to death on several occasions. However, she fought and resisted until the end: "She didn't want to die, but her strength failed at the end."

Among her hardest moments, the abusive relationship she suffered for years stands out, as well as the death of her daughter Rocío at 17 years of age due to a traffic accident, an event that completely destroyed her.

María Jiménez was an optimistic, vital and lively woman and, despite the hard blows that life had dealt her, she never lost her smile or her will to live. Characterized by her good humor and by the 'pearls' that she released publicly without cutting herself, the Andalusian gave the audience great moments that are already part of the pop culture of our country.

According to her sister on Antena 3, they were very close. ''We knew she was leaving and I spent all the time with her. "I was able to say goodbye to her," she said after sharing that both had been fundamental pillars in each other's lives and that they were together and strong in the good and bad times.
