The old bird keepers of the Rambla want to reform their stalls so that they are not made to leave

The former bird keepers in the upper part of the Rambla are willing to reform their souvenir, ice cream and nougat stalls, among other things, in exchange for the City Council desisting from throwing them off the promenade. In a few days from now, those responsible for these eleven municipal concessions will present to the government of Mayor Ada Colau a project to transform their businesses, mainly aimed at bringing them closer to the residents of Barcelona. In this way, these businesses, instead of trying to seduce tourists above all, as they have been doing for years, would offer, as they themselves underlined, sustainable products with a gender perspective that "make the associations of the city”, “highlight Mediterranean cuisine”, “remember the history of La Rambla”, “make citizens aware of climate change”...

In addition, the former bird keepers continue to collect signatures that in the end endorse a popular legislative initiative that declares their posts cultural heritage of Catalonia. Apparently they have already gathered more than 60,000. His idea is to present his post reform project to the City Council as soon as the process of validation of these samples of support is completed. "If 4,000 signatures were enough to convince the Colau government to break the city's relations with Tel Aviv...".

For years the former bird keepers of the Rambla and the Consistory have been immersed in a bitter conflict. The City Council understands that the transformation of these stalls was a fiasco, that they really have no place on the Rambla of the future... and is determined to evict them. Paradistas, however, maintain that their licenses are still valid, that they will be for many years, and they refuse to disappear without further ado. “If at least they had offered us an alternative... We want a negotiated solution. This is how we are setting things up. But if there is no way, it will have to be a judge who decides.
