The notes of France in the World Cup final

Deschamps' men did not start well and allowed a much superior Argentina to go 2-0 ahead on the scoreboard. Everything seemed doomed, but France should never be considered dead and Mbappé appeared to equalize the score with a double in two minutes, forcing extra time.

In extra time Argentina went ahead again thanks to Leo Messi, but the French beast appeared again to send the game to penalties, where the blues did not measure up and missing two shots, gave the title to the albiceleste.

Lloris /7/Reliable. He was not to blame for any of Argentina's goals and made important saves for Messi and Lautaro Martínez that kept his team alive. He couldn't save any penalty.

Koundé/5/Willful. He had to fight with Di María for an hour and he endured as best he could in the worst moments in France. In the second part he was able to join the attack with some run down the wing.

Varane/6/Sober. The Manchester United center-back was quite confident, especially from above. France missed their air power on second-half corner kicks.

Upamecano/6/Sure. Expeditious to defend his zone, the Bayern center-back complied and increased as the minutes passed, finding his best moment in extra time, when he blocked two goal shots.

Theo/5/Nervous. The Milan side started very nervous, with two rude mistakes at the beginning. Then he made amends. He collided with Messi in a jump that was close to ending both injured.

Tchouaméni/5/Passed. The midfielder from Madrid dedicated himself to plugging holes in a sacrificial and little-show job. It went to more, like the whole team. He was one of the two who failed in the penalty shootout.

Rabiot/4/Sad. The fine Juventus midfielder returned for the final and was gray and not very participatory in general. He earned the yellow with a very ugly and hard tackle on Rodrigo de Paul.

Griezmann/4/Off. If Griezmann does not channel the attack game, France has much fewer resources. He touched very little of the ball in the first half and when he started to appear in the second he was changed.

Dembélé/2/Disastrous. He did not get a right and was the unfortunate protagonist for France when committing an innocent penalty on Di María that unbalanced the final in minute 22. Deschamps replaced him in minute 40.

Mbappé/10/Brutal. He had enough with the final stretch to unleash himself impressively. He scored twice in 95 seconds, the second from a lovely volley. He would then make it 3-3 and scored his own goal in the shootout.

Giroud/4/Absent. The French nine went completely unnoticed while he was on the pitch. In his only shot on goal, a header, he fouled. He was traded before the break.

Kolo Muani/7/Revulsive. He reinvigorated the entire attacking game.

Thuram/5/Done. He requested two penalties that the VAR did not grant.

Eat/6/Fighter. Very active at the end.

Camavinga/5/Soft Drink. He came out as a winger.

Fofana/5/Intracendent

Konaté/Sc/Forward

Disasi/Sc/Sin tiempo
