The new moon is renewed in Casserres

I captured this snapshot of the new moon after sunset for La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos in Casserres, in the Berguedà region.

At an astronomical level, we must differentiate the new moon (astronomical new moon or black moon, which corresponds to the real new moon) and the crescent moon, which corresponds to the traditional new moon.

Regarding the first, it is usually impossible to see this phase of the moon with the naked eye, since it is hidden behind the sun's glare. It is only possible to observe it when a total solar eclipse occurs.

The "new moon" or "intermoon" is a lunar phase that occurs when the moon is located exactly between the Earth and the Sun, so its illuminated hemisphere cannot be seen from our planet.

The traditional crescent moon or new moon is the first appearance of the moon in the sky, two days after the new moon has occurred.

Casserres places us 12 km south of Berga. It extends to the left of the Llobregat river. It is made up of large areas of crops and crossed by the Clarà and Merola streams.
