The literary world has an appointment this Friday, January 6, at the Hotel Palace in Barcelona, ​​where the Nadal Novel and Josep Pla prizes for prose in Catalan will be presented there during a dinner, recovering its tradition after two editions marked by the pandemic .

The journalist Inés Martín Rodrigo was the winner of the Nadal last year with Las formas del querer. This year, as a novelty, the prize, which until now was 18,000 euros, now has a financial endowment of 30,000 euros

In this 79th edition, Nadal has received a total of 997 originals, all of which have been analyzed by a jury made up of Alicia Giménez Bartlett, Care Santos, Lorenzo Silva, Andrés Trapiello and Emili Rosales. As the Destino publishing house announced in a statement, in the works presented there is a notable increase in the contemporary literary novel with intimate stories and a prominent presence of historical novels, crime novels and thrillers is maintained.

The provinces that have submitted the most originals to the Nadal Award are Madrid, with 128; Barcelona, ​​with 59, and Valencia, with 29, and by country, 113 have been received from Argentina, 66 from Colombia and 57 from Mexico.

As far as the Josep Pla prize is concerned, the value of the prize also varies and goes from 6,000 to 10,000 euros. In 2022 the winning work was La Vall de la Llum, by Toni Cruanyes.

In this 55th edition, the jury of the award will be made up of Laia Aguilar, Marc Artigau, Montse Barderi, Manuel Forcano and Glòria Gasch and among the works presented are historical novels, fantasy genre, memoiristic narratives and intimate ones.
