The Montjuïc Olympic Ring will live a record 2023

The Montjuïc Olympic Ring will have a year full of activity in 2023. Throughout the year, at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, the Palau Sant Jordi and the Sant Jordi Club there are already programmed more than 140 events that will attract 1,400,000 visitors, practically twice as many as this year. This figure had not been reached for a decade.

Above all, the number of planned concerts increases. There are already 116, 60% more than in 2022. In addition, it will be the first time, in the 30-year history of this facility, that, in a single year, the Olympic Stadium will be filled eight times to host musical performances. Coldplay will do it, who will play for four days; Bruce Springsteen, with a double concert; Harry Styles; and The Weekend.

Likewise, the Palau Sant Jordi and the Sant Jordi Club will host a good number of renowned national and international artists. Among them, Robbie Williams, who will perform for two days; Elton John, also with a double concert; and the British band The Who, who had not visited Barcelona for seven years.

Also noteworthy are the concerts by the Americans Blink-182, who return to the stage after 10 years; Bad Gyal, Lola Indigo, Maroon 5; Quevedo, Joaquin Sabina; the final tour of Oques Grasses, and La Pegatina, which will celebrate its twentieth anniversary with a special tour.

In addition, during 2023 entertainment classics such as Disney on Ice, Cirque du Soleil or the Trial Indoor will return; and new events will be held such as the Barcelona Eurovision Party, which is coming to the Sant Jordi Club for the first time.

According to the first deputy mayor and president of BSM, Jaume Collboni, "in 2023, the Olympic Ring will show its exceptional potential as a setting for major events."

"The versatility of the Olympic Stadium, the Palau Sant Jordi, the Sant Jordi Club and the Olympic Explanada make Barcelona one of the main European venues for culture and entertainment, an international position that coexists perfectly with the link that these spaces they continue to support the men and women of Barcelona, who they also enjoy through social and educational activities”, added the number two of the Barcelona City Council.

The cultural, sports and leisure activity planned in the Ring for 2023 will coexist with that of Futbol Club Barcelona which, from August 2023 and thanks to the agreement between the Barcelona City Council, BSM and the Barça entity, will play the matches of the Men's first team at the Olympic Stadium.

Barça's activity will be compatible with the rest of the cultural, sporting and civic uses of the Olympic Ring and the rest of the facilities on the Montjuïc mountain.

With the investments made recently, the capacity of the Palau Sant Jordi has been able to grow to almost 18,500 people, thus consolidating itself as the largest closed events venue in Spain. This fact favors the attraction of large international tours and increases the interest of music promoters in locating large-format shows in Barcelona.
