The millionaire compensation that Pochettino will receive for leaving PSG

In a year and a half, Mauricio Pochettino has not been able to convince the PSG leaders. The main objective for which he had been hired (the Champions League) is still too far away, and the French championship, achieved only this season, falls short.

Not even with Leo Messi, Kylian Mbppaé and Neymar, the attack with the most stars on the world scene, has the Argentine coach gotten away with it. That is why next season he will not sit on the bench at the Parc des Princes. However, the Parisian club has not yet announced his departure while waiting to resolve some fringes before the termination of the contract.

As published on Tuesday by the newspaper L'Équipe, the difference of two million euros is the reason why he is still the PSG coach. That amount is claimed by Pochettino considering that they are bonuses for results during that season and a half at the club. The compensation for the remaining year of the contract is estimated at around 15 million euros for Pochettino and his coaching staff (formed by the Spaniards Toni Jiménez and Jesús Pérez and the Argentines Miguel D'Agostino and Sebastiano Pochettino).

Since his arrival as PSG coach in January 2021, Pochettino has won three titles: the 2020 French Super Cup, the French Cup in the 2020/2021 season and Ligue 1 in the 2021/2022 season.

According to the aforementioned media outlet, at the club they estimate that the merit of two of those titles does not correspond to the Argentine coach since the first is the result of winning Ligue 1 in the previous season played when he was not yet on the bench, and Regarding the second, when he arrived in Paris the competition was already very advanced.

There is less than a week left for the PSG squad to return to training at the Camp des Loges sports city next Monday, July 4 and the new coach has not yet been announced, after last June 10 it was reported to Pochettino and his team who are not part of the new club project.

PSG have already prepared their substitute and finally it will not be Zinedine Zidane, as was rumoured. The chosen one is Cristophe Galtier, with whom L'Équipe assures that the Parisian team has an agreement with his current club, Nice, for 8 million euros, since he had two seasons left on his contract on the Côte d'Azur.

Pochettino's departure from important club positions is not the only one. Starting next year, Leonardo, until now the club's sports director, will not be there either. His place will be occupied by the Portuguese Luis Campos.
