The mayor of Cabrera de Mar defends the legality of the urban procedures of Villa Bugatti

The mayor of Cabrera de Mar (Barcelona), Jordi Mir, has defended this Monday before the judge the legality of the urban procedures of some land belonging to Villa Bugatti, a local estate dedicated to holding banquets and where a school for children with special needs.

Legal sources have explained that he has declared this before the judge of the Barcelona Examining Court 1, Joaquín Aguirre, who is investigating him within the framework of the 'Volhov' operation for the alleged diversion of public funds in the environment of the Catalan independence movement, and inquires about the modification of the urban activity of the land of the Villa Bugatti complex.

Jordi Mir has also denied having felt "pressured" by the former ERC minister, Xavier Vendrell -also investigated in the case-, or skipping or speeding up any process. During his statement, the mayor answered all the questions and detailed "point by point the administrative and urban procedures that were carried out."

He explained that Villa Bugatti had a permit for residential and hotel uses, and that they wanted to change the permits to hotel and educational ones to be able to build the school, which is why a municipal plenary session was held in 2020 to approve the project, although it was not carried out. because the Civil Guard made entries, searches and arrests related to this project. FORMER URBAN PLANNING COUNCILOR

This Monday, the former Town Planning councilor of the town, Enric Mir, has also declared that he has been investigated, who has only responded to questions from his lawyer, and has denied any type of irregularity.

During the searches, the Civil Guard found 38,000 euros in envelopes in Enric Mir's office, and he has justified with documents that, days before he was arrested, he sold a house and a machine, and that the machine was paid for in cash and With that money, he would pay the down payment on a piece of land that he wanted to buy.

Likewise, this Monday it was also expected that the former ERC minister, Xavier Vendrell, would declare himself under investigation for his alleged involvement in the reclassification of the land belonging to Villa Bugatti, although his declaration has been postponed to December 22.

As sources from the investigation explained to Europa Press, the judge ensures that the City Council approved a specific modification of the Cabrera de Mar Municipal Urban Planning Plan (POUM) that allowed the revaluation of the Villa Bugatti estates, increasing their value from 5 to 10 million euros, incurring in what he describes as "flagrant irregularity".

According to an order consulted by Europa Press, the judge and the Civil Guard are investigating alleged crimes of urban prevarication and influence peddling for this reclassification and the change in value of the land based on intercepted telephone conversations, considering that there are sufficient indications that show that Vendrell he could have obtained "clear favorable treatment" from municipal officials and the Generalitat to approve the plan.
