The man accused of kidnapping a woman who appeared chained in Burgos goes to prison

The judicial authority has ordered the entry into prison of the man accused of illegally retaining a woman, who after arriving chained from neck to hands at the Miranda de Ebro hospital (Burgos), reported having been attacked and held against her will in the home of the individual, who was arrested on Tuesday and released pending trial.

At the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Court of First Instance and Instruction 2 of Miranda de Ebro took a statement this Friday from the victim, as well as from a witness to what happened, after which it was agreed that he would be placed in provisional detention, communicated and without bail for the accused, as confirmed by the Communication Office of the Superior Court of Justice of Castilla y León (TSJCyL).

The woman, who initially did not request protection measures either, arrived on Monday morning at the Santiago Apóstol Hospital in Miranda de Ebro, where relatives took her after she fled from the man's apartment, who according to her complaint had attacked her and chained her with the intention to suffocate her, after offering to transport her by car.

Police sources have explained to EFE that the victim and alleged aggressor “knew each other by sight” although “it does not seem like they had any type of relationship,” and the man would have approached her from the hospital, where she was caring for a friend, to Miranda de Ebro. occasionally.

This is how the victim ended up in the car of the detainee, who managed to convince her to stop by his house, a moment he took advantage of to hit her and leave her unconscious, according to the story given by the victim to the National Police.

When she regained consciousness, the victim had a rope around her neck and the attacker was trying to suffocate her, while hitting her in the face and insulting her; After that, the man added a chain and tied the woman, who was held by her hands and neck with her chain.

The victim took advantage of a moment in which she was left unguarded to flee the house and take refuge with relatives, who were the ones who took her to the hospital, where she received medical assistance this Monday and notified the Police, whose Family Unit and Women (UFAM) took on the case, identified the aggressor and issued an arrest warrant.

The arrest occurred on Tuesday and the man was brought to justice on Wednesday, with the police report that included the statements of the victim, the alleged aggressor and witnesses, some of whom were in the same house, as police sources have confirmed to EFE.

The Court of First Instance and Instruction 2 of Miranda, on duty, agreed to his provisional release until the trial, with the obligation to appear as many times as required.

Now, after listening to the victim and a witness, he has agreed to enter prison accused of a crime of illegal detention, without prejudice to the fact that the classification may vary as the investigation progresses, as indicated by judicial sources, who have specified that the case Court number 1 will be in charge after the one on duty is inhibited.
