The Llobregat river returns to its place

In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can see in images how the environment of the Baells reservoir has been transformed, with now arid areas, with cracked earth.

The Baells reservoir is turning into a desert, with the river Llobregat that, after 60 years, is recovering its ground.

The cultural heritage is also on view, such as the monastery of Sant Salvador de la Vedella. Founded in the year 830 by the monks of San Saturnino de Tavèrnoles, it is the only building that remains standing from the old town flooded in the construction of the reservoir.

The drought is clearly visible in this Berguedà dam, whose objective is to regulate the upper basin of the Llobregat river, supply water to the metropolitan area of Barcelona and produce hydroelectric energy.

The general impression of visitors who come to the Baells reservoir is that, along this path, "potatoes will soon be able to be planted".
